Theo stalked back into the Vulpus den, anger boiling off of him, restlessness nipping at his heels.
“Theo!” Came a happy voice, and Theo glanced to the left to see a sleek female fox bounding towards him. He literally dwarfed her in size but as she hit him, he allowed himself to be driven to the ground just as he had done with Lena. The only difference was he didn't kick the fox off as she began to nuzzle him; this was Vixyn, his little adoptive sister. Though most of the foxes looked the same, she was a little different in the way that her coat was perfectly unmarred, a richer shade of orange-red, her white and black markings very distinctive.
She instantly caught the sense that something was wrong and raised herself from him a little, immediately shifting to her human form. That rich auburn fur melted easily into smooth, pale flesh, all save for her mane of lustrous, long red waves. Her muzzle shortened, teeth shifting until she possessed the face of a human, though those eyes stayed the same bright amber-brown: she looked very fairy-like. She was lithe and slender, petite. She crawled off of him, nude but uncaring; modesty wasn't known amongst the Weres.
“Theo, what is wrong?” She asked, her voice soft, her expression concerned. “Something bothers you, brother. I would ask you to share that burden with me.”
Theo shifted into his human form as well, stretching up to his full height, cracking his neck a little. He raised a hand and slicked back his dirty blond hair from his face, trying to avoid Vixyn's probing gaze at first, then relented to her.
He told her all about coming across Lena and her problem with split personalities, Vincent coming after her, the quiet struggle that had ensued. All the while, Vixyn stood there absolutely silent, her expression unreadable. When Theo was done, she glanced away from him, biting the fullest part of her lower lip, perfect white teeth worrying at soft pink flesh.
“...Then we must go to her.” Vixyn said, as though it was as simple as that.
Theo blinked. “It's not as easy as that, little sister. He is a Vampire Lord, it is too dangerous to just go unprepared.”
Vixyn smirked, a mischief-filled grin that she was known for. “Who ever said we would go unprepared? I know someone who can help us. He is a human--”
“VIX! Don't tell me you went to the humans again?!”
Vixyn scowled and crossed her arms over her bare chest. “They didn't hurt me.”
Theo scowled right back, his brow knit in worry and in anger. “Have you not seen them wearing the pelts of our family?”
“It's not ALL humans, Theo. If you would stop and think for a moment, not every member of every species is like their kin. Look at you. You are Wolf, yet you do not hunt us. Not EVERY Wolf wishes to hurt the Fox. And in that same sense, not every Human wishes to hurt the Were.”
Theo thought back to Lena, how he had accused her of being dangerous to his family, then shook his head. Vixyn was right. He felt like an ass.
“...Just be careful. I do not know what I would do if...” he trailed off, unable to even fathom the possibility of losing his little sister. He reached out and took her in his arms, pulling her to him in an embrace, resting his cheek on the top of her head. She had an earthy scent, soft and feminine, sweet. Vixyn, in turn, wrapped her arms around Theo and hugged him to reassure him.
“I will be fine. They are friends. They like the Weres. They do not like Vampires though. Let me go to them, gather weapons. You get a few Weres that you trust, and we shall meet back at dawn.”
She was smart, Vixyn was...going in the daytime to attack the Vampire Lord.
Theo nodded and they parted ways. Inwardly, he was getting himself ready for what he was about to do...and everything that it would mean.
