The cool night air felt wonderful as it sifted through her soft auburn fur, her muzzle tipped to the sky as she bound over fallen trees and rocks along the mountain side. Her padded paws made barely a sound as they connected with rain-dampened leaves and branches; the night air itself was alive with the sound of wildlife scurrying about. She could smell tiny rodents and rabbits, could sense their fear but she wasn't hungry. Her attentions were focused on simply enjoying the night for what it was.
Eventually, though, she would tire and came to a trotting stop, pink textured tongue lolling out of her mouth as she panted lightly and shook vigorously once to dispel water droplets, like liquid diamonds, from her coat. With a little annoyed growl, she rubbed her nose alongside her leg, getting an inch she couldn't otherwise scratch. When that didn't work, the little female fox let out a rather humanoid sigh...
...and Changed.
It wasn't like what you saw in the horror movies; there was no breaking of bones, no screaming, no blood or anything like that. It was a smooth, fluid motion that was actually beautiful in its unnatural metamorphoses. Her limbs elongated and bones gently rearranged painlessly, fur melted into smooth, pale, flawless flesh save for the curtain of hair that kissed her sculpted back. Her eyes remained the same; still cunning and deep and introspective and animalistic, but now the female held a human's face, the bridge of her nose and her cheeks sprinkled lightly with pale freckles.
In the place of the fox stood a young woman, naked completely, and now she would raise her hand and scratch the side of her nose with a tiny satisfied smile. "Ahhhh..." she murmured, tilting her head from side to side. "Nothing like opposable thumbs."
